Available assets and resources within a community are often overlooked by public health professionals when they are not expressed in monetary terms. Thus, we systematically identify stakeholders, inventory their assets and resources, and find interests congruent with ours so that we may leverage their assets and resources toward our successful health interventions.
Imagine one non-monetary asset or intangible community resource from the nonprofit or for-profit sector in the United States that, if managed well, might help you to implement a tax on sugar-sweetened beverages to reduce obesity. Your public health goal is to reduce obesity, and your mechanism to do so is to pass a sugar-sweetened beverage tax.
