The internet is the global connection network of millions of computers forming networks. It is a network of networks which work together to send and receive information.

How are they different?

Internet acts as the infrastructure of the network of nodes (computers). For example, the Internet can be seen as a store in which different books are kept. While, on the other hand, WWW can be considered as the books kept in the book store.

They are connected as they have to serve the common purpose of sending and receiving information to and from users. If the internet is the hardware then the WWW can be thought of as software. For proper functioning of connection of nodes, each of internet and WWW is required.
