Even though most religions are concerned with ethics, morals, and peace, worldwide persecution often is connected with religion. How and why is this so? What might be done to reduce this connection?

One of the most important reasons for this condition is that each religion considers itself the superior religion and try to spread their dominance over others and this creates lots of problems because religious tolerance is entirely lost. Most of the time, the majority would try to persecute the minority people in terms of religion by discriminating and unleashing violence on them. Religions should ensure that their followers respect the choice of religion and shouldn’t interfere with them just because they are different. Second reason is interpreting the religious texts to one’s own convenience. Most of the religious texts are written thousands of years back in a particular cultural, socio-economic and environmental period most of the people were not that civilized compared to the present-day people. So, if those texts are to be interpreted today, they need to have those particular factors such as the cultural, socio-economic factors in mind. Radicals in all the religions try to grasp whatever is convenient for them to interpret for their benefit. Finally, this trend only shows that people are not either competent enough to understand the ethical points resent in their texts or they are not civilized enough to accommodate others while discussing ethics. So, people need to understand that each one is unique and everyone’s rights and freedom should be respected in order to create a better place that would accommodate everyone.
