Answer #1

Ti = 1389.0 oC

Tf = 1610.0 oC

here

Cs = 0.711 J/g.oC

Heat required to convert solid from 1389.0 oC to 1410.0 oC

Q1 = m*Cs*(Tf-Ti)

= 21.7 g * 0.711 J/g.oC *(1410-1389) oC

= 324.0027 J

Lf = 1653.0 J/g

Heat required to convert solid to liquid at 1410.0 oC

Q2 = m*Lf

= 21.7g *1653.0 J/g

= 35870.1 J

Cl = 0.908 J/g.oC

Heat required to convert liquid from 1410.0 oC to 1610.0 oC

Q3 = m*Cl*(Tf-Ti)

= 21.7 g * 0.908 J/g.oC *(1610-1410) oC

= 3940.72 J

Total heat required = Q1 + Q2 + Q3

= 324.0027 J + 35870.1 J + 3940.72 J

= 40135 J

= 40.135 KJ

Answer: 40.135 KJ
