In competitive inhibition inhibitor competite for the active site of enzyme because inhibitor is structurally similar to the original substrate.

Enzyme works efficiently at optimum pH.

Changing pH reduces its activity.

This is because, on changing pH the tertiary structure of an enzyme is affected.

The tertiary structure of an enzyme is formed by Hydrogen bonds and and ionic bonds of R groups of different amino acids, changing pH break these bonds causing change in tertiary structure of enzyme.
