answer-

yes, amazon is very successful and strong company in the e-commerce industry.

Amazon organizational structure can be classified as hierarchical. Senior management team include two CEOs, three Senior Vice Presidents and one Worldwide Controller, who are responsible for various vital aspects of the business reporting directly to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. There are seven segments such as information technology, human resources and legal operations and heads of segments also report to Amazon CEO.

Hierarchical structure at Amazon has developed due to the immense size of the business. The largest internet retailer in the world by revenue employs 560,000 people worldwide[1] and it has more than 300 million customers globally.[2] Amazon organizational structure integrates many small teams that deal with various aspects of the business. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is credited with the introduction of ‘two pizza rule”. According to this rule, meetings should be held in teams small enough that could be all fed with only two pizzas.

Amazon.com Inc. has an organizational culture that enables business capacity to respond to the demands of the e-commerce market. A company’s organizational or corporate culture sets the traditions and values that influence employees’ behaviors. For example, Amazon’s corporate culture pushes employees to go beyond traditional limits and conventions to develop bright ideas and solutions. As the world’s top-performing online retailer, the company continues to seek fresh talent. However, to maintain a capable workforce, Amazon must reinforce its organizational culture to shape the development of human resources for long-term competitive advantage .

Amazon.com Inc. states, “We’re a company of pioneers. It’s our job to make bold bets, and we get our energy from inventing on behalf of customers. Success is measured against the possible, not the probable. For today’s pioneers, that’s exactly why there’s no place on Earth they’d rather build than Amazon.” This statement shows that Amazon’s organizational culture has the following characteristics:

  1. Boldness
  2. Customer-centricity
  3. Peculiarity

In their company's structure and culture, jeff bezoz the founder and CEO has the great power and influence in which he takes all the big decisions and lower level managers takes advice and ask for permission to him for taking any bug business decisions.

The pros of this amazon has proper management of business. amazon has strong leader who is leading business to success. but the negative things which we can think about this is that employees under this culture need more autonomy, more freedom to put their creative ideas to the management so that amazon can understand the value and power of its employees.there are some news that amazon has involved in exploitation of warehouse workers especially females by its warehouse managers which its CEO should look into that.as this could be small issues but would become big legal issues.
