The purpose of this assignment is to use prefixes, suffixes, word roots, and combining vowels to build and define terms of Anatomy, Anesthesia, Surgery, Microbiology and Infectious Disease and to interpret the meaning of those terms used in written and verbal communication. Play this week’s games to familiarize yourself with the prefixes, suffixes, and word roots related to this week’s topic. Imagine you are an official in a hospital or public health agency. Write a memo, at least 350 words in length, to a fictional colleague in which you use 5 words from the Summary Tables in this week’s chapters. The prefixes and suffixes are the greek or latin words that used to combine the root words to form a medical term or terminology.It can be helpful for the health care providers to share the medical information of a patient easily and also helpful for medical billing.

1.Stethoscope:

*Sthethos means that chest or breast

*Scope means an instrument for listening to the sounds

Thus we can say the Stethoscope is an device or instrument used to listen the heart sounds or beats

2.Ultrasonography:

*Ultra means is an power or extensive

*Sono means sound

*Graphy means is a method of recording

Thus we can say Ultrasonography is a powerful diagnostic medical procedure that uses sound waves to produce images on a screen,thus allows the medical providers to veiw the internal structures of the body and record it

3.Phagocytosis:

*Phago means eating or killing

*Cyto means of a cell or cells,here cells means the cell or cell fragment of a micro-organism

*Osis means infestation or disease

Thus we can say that Phagocytosis as the ingestion and killing of smaller cell or cell fragment of a micro-organism thus recovery from certain diseases

4.Prophylactic:

*Pro means before or ahead

*Phylax means gurad or preserve anaphylaxis

Thus we can say Prophylactic as the action or the preventive measure/precaution from a disease before its occurence

5.Lymphocyte:

*Lymph means a pale fluid that contains WBC

*Cyte means a mature cell or a cell

Thus we can say Lymphocyte as a pale fluid that contains WBC and that passes through channels channels in the body and helps to keep bodily tissues healthy
