Answer: ---- Research Question Date: ----11/11/2019 A possible resesearch question could be "Does a person's economic and social bagground affect the level of income he is able to earn?" Are people of different races and different gender paid differently?. These are major questions relating to the economic background and social well being of the people in the society. Through the research we are interested in determining if the social and economic factors affect the level of income a person in today's society is able to earn. Null Hypothesis The null hypothesis in the research is that there is no income disparity in the society and the social background and the economic status does not affect the income levels of a household. Research Design This is a type of non-experimental research. The tests performed are to make a conformatory analysis based on secondary data in order to check the relevance of our null hypothesis. Here we are tryng to test the relation ship between certain variables to establish a linear relationship between them using the techniques of multiple regression analysis. Dependent Variable The dependent variable in our study is the "Income" of a household. This would be measured in US Dollars(S). Independnet Variable and other variables in the multiple regression analysis The independent variables are "Age"'Years of Education" "Gender" "Race" and "Urban/Rural Background" The variable age will be measured in years as attained at the last birthday. The years of education will be measured as the total number of years a person has spend in an educational institution such as a school or college.

The gender will be a dummy variable, taking 1 for male and O for female. The race will also be a dummy variable, taking 1 for the white group and 0 for the coloured group. The urban/rural bckground will be measured as a dummy variable, taking a value 1 for a urban background and a value 0 for a rural background. Justification for Other Variables in the multiple regression analysis The justification for adding these other variables in the analysis is that according to popular beleif the variables mentioned above will have significant effect on the level of income that a person earns in today's society. If a significance is obtained in the study then it can be stated that a person's Age, Education, Gender, race and Urban/Rural background affects the level of income that he/she is able to earn.
