Question

X Part I. Derive Bivariate Regression by hand. Again, we are using the same data set that we used in the in-class assessment.
4. Step 4: Find the sum of (x1 - x)2 = 5. Step 5: the formula for the slope (Denoted as Beta Hat) of a bivariate regression i
7. Now you do have regression equation. YL = a + BX By plugging in x in the above equation you can fill in the third column b

SOLUTION

Sum of X = 465
Sum of Y = 185.7

(1) Mean X = 25.8333

(2) Mean Y = 10.3167

(3) (X - \overline{x})(Y - \overline{y}) Sum of products (SP) = 117.45

(4)     (X - \overline{x})2 Sum of squares (SSX) = 1010.5

Regression Equation = ŷ = bX + a

(5) \beta = SP/SSX = 117.45/1010.5 = 0.11623

a = MY - bMX = 10.32 - (0.12*25.83) = 7.31407

ŷ = 0.11623X + 7.31407
