Ans) Developmental disabilities are issues that kids don't outgrow or catch up from, though they can make progress.

- While it's not always clear what is causing the delay which may complicate the early identification of developmental problem. Some kids still have delays in skills.

- Developmental psychologists study physical, cognitive, and social changes throughout the life span.

- Three issues pervade this study:

(1) the relative impact of genes and experience on development,

(2) whether development is best described as gradual and continuous or as a sequence of separate stages,

(3) whether personality traits remain stable or change over the life span.

Examples of developmental disabilities include:

  • Autism.
  • Behavior disorders.
  • Brain injury.
  • Cerebral palsy.
  • Down syndrome.
  • Fetal alcohol syndrome.
  • Intellectual disability.
  • Spina Bifida.
