●Doxazosin is an antihypertensive drug.It is classified under alpha 1 adrenergic blocker.This medication stops the action of alpha 1 receptor as a result the smooth muscles are replaced leading to decrease in blood pressure.

It is also used in BPH

●Norfloxacin is an antibiotic which acts on gram positive and gram negative bacteria and hence termed to be broad spectrum antibiotic. It is generally indicated in the following cases

  • Urinary tract infections
  • Prostatitis
  • Diarrhea
  • Cervicitis
  • Urethritis
  • Gonorrhea
  • Cystitis

● The therapeutic action of oxybutynin is relaxation of the smooth muscles especially in the bladder and called as anticholinergic or antispasmosic drug.In simple the nature of the action is antimuscuranic.

●The term BPH refers to inflammation occurring in the prostate. The most frequent medication used is to enhance bladder function.The alpha blockers does this action

The 5 alpha reductase inhibitors are used to reduce the swelling

● Some of the nursing implementation considerations for a patient receiving urinary tract anti infectives are

  • To reduce and minimize the spread of infection nybaseptic procedure, hand hygiene and basic infection control practices
  • Administer antibiotics in time and monitor for any side effects
  • Assess the urine output, to know the progress
  • Encourage patient to drink adequate fluid to prevent concentration of the urine
  • Administer analgesics to reduce the pain
