Here, 2-Iodo-2-methylpropane is tertiary alkyiodide. In presence of strong base like KOH, tertiary alkylhalides under go elimination reaction over substitution rections. So, the major product is alkene and minor product is substituted product.

The methanol is aliphatic alcohol. Its corresponding conjugate base CH3O- does not have resonance stuctures to stabilize.  But, 2- Napthol is an aromatic alcohol. Its corresponding 2-Napthoxide has several resonance structures to stabilize.
