Part 5: Incentives

Incentives for better performance in the healthcare have several modes and methods. They are designed to motivate and encourage people to perform well and improve their outcomes. In health institutions, we find like any other businesses they are given as cash to employees after they reach the quota targeted for them by the employer and for doing their work well. They are mostly given during mid-month and they are given out according to one’s work.

Impact of Compensation on Recruitment, Retention and Performance

The main incentive program for healthcare systems is the pay for performance strategy. In this case the employees are rewarded for their responsibility in improving performance of the healthcare system. It has always been a belief of many managers that the organization becomes successful when compensations are addressed on an individual effort. There has been a positive development when this form of incentive is provided for employees. The healthcare system however is a success when all the departments work in harmony. Incentives offered to an individual sometimes may not have big influence compared to incentives provided to the whole department. The other method of incentive is positive competition-based rewards (McDonald, 2018, p. 41). Incentives of such positive nature have provided benefits to the healthcare system.

Step 5: Evaluate and discuss different ways to “incent” performance in healthcare; see also data collected in Part 2.
