What is the level of specificity in the coding system? Explain with an example how do you code the highest level of specificity?

Answer: The level of specificity in the coding system means that the use of maximum digits in the code wherever it is required. If the code is consists of three digits it need to be expressed in four digits as it has to be in highest in number to get accepted.

We can take example such as the code for the tobacco use is Z72, but it will not get accepted so it has to be specific i.e. Z72.0, now it will get accepted because it is now in the highest digit form. If we take another example such as code of hypertension is 401, it is three digits and it will get rejected if it will be not specificity in the coding system. So it required to be entered as 401.0, this will be accepted.
