b) A free neutron does decay into a proton, an electron and an anti electron neutrino. The mean lifetime of a neutron is 15 mins approx and the half life is 10 mins. So a free neutron would decay in 15 mins but in a nucleus they are bounded and stablised by nuclear force which keeps them from decaying. therefore, free neutron does decay into a proton, an electron and an anti electron neutrino.
