I need help with number 6, 8 and 9.

Use the HW8 script. Get a random sample of n=29 from the data set. Print out the html output (after knitting). You need the output to receive credit. Make sure the set.seed code with your student ID is visible.

Perform the calculations by hand for each question using the data generated with the HW8 script. You must show your work here or on a separate piece of paper. Circle the answer and write the question number on the output where applicable.

H0: ? = 15

H1: ? ≠ 15

Sampling distribution (assuming the null is true):

4. What is the mean of the sampling distribution? (+1)

mean= 15

5. What is standard error of the sampling distribution? (+1) Find it on the output. (+1)

standard error= 1.63

6. Sketch and label the sampling distribution. (+2)

Hypothesis test:

7. What is the obtained t? (+1) Find it on the output. (+1)

obtained t= -8.89

8. Can you reject the null hypothesis? If so, at what significance level? (+2) Explain what this means. (+3)

9. What is the critical t? (+1)

Answer #1

Solution6:

13

8. Can you reject the null hypothesis? If so, at what significance level? (+2) Explain what this means. (+3)

critical t value==T.INV.2T(0.05;28)=2.048407142

test statistic=-8.89

|t stat|=|-8.89|=8.89

t stat>critcal t

Reject H0 at 5% level of significance.

Implies given sample does not come from population whose mean value is 15.

What is the critical t?

degrees of freedom=n-1=29-1=18

critical t value can be found in excel as

=T.INV.2T(0.05;28)

=2.0484

critical t=2.0484
