Answer #1

5 Stages of Systems design are as follows:

  1. The preliminary investigation to understand and determine whether there is a need for a new information system.
  2. The information and data are collected in relation to the existing and present system and then this data is further analyzed using various analysis methods and design tools in order to determine the requirements of the new and proposed system.
  3. The various alternatives are then defined and then the best alternative out of these is chosen after evaluating the various alternatives from the economic, technical and operational feasibility perspective and the results are noted in a systems design report.
  4. In the next stage i.e the development phase we need to purchase or acquire the software and the required hardware, and test the new system
  5. This stage is the implementation of the new system which involves converting from the old system to the new system using the various conversion approaches available which are the direct , parallel, pilot or phased approach.
