Hi, just compare, if i was on the good way.
Problem 1:
On September 18, 2017, the tangential winds measured 10 km from
the center of Hurricane Marie were 50 km / h. The hurricane was
moving NW at a speed of 5 km / h.
1.
Determine the components of the wind speed 10 km north and 10 km
south of the center of the depression. Use the local repository to
represent these speeds.
(they want the speed of wind or only the components in each location (north and souh?)
2.
Where (at a distance of 10 km from the hurricane center) was the
wind stronger? (N, S, E, W, NW, NE, etc.)
(NW, because its same direction than hurricaine.)
Thanks
All the hurricanes that are formed in Northern hemisphere are counterclockwise in direction. It means the wind rotates in Anticlockwise direction.
According to the question 1, we have to just find the components of the wind speed in N and S. For this we have to resolve the 5km/h speed and then add it to the 50km/h rotation speed.
For question 2, your approach is not correct. Here as I have shown in the answer below, the rotation speed is different at different points. But in the NE point of the hurricane the wind speed is in the same direction as that of the hurricane direction.
