Let C be the normalizing constant for the given function f(x).

For f(x) to be a valid pdf we need

Cf(z)dz = 1 ー00 Ce_3rdz = 1 0 3 -3x0 C=3

a) The normalized function is

1 f (x) 0, elsewhere

b) The probability that x lies between 1 and 2 is

2 3x1 -3x.2 3×2 = 0.0473

ans: The probability that x lies between 1 and 2 is 0.0473
