(i): Obamacare – To avoid being a victim of Obamacare scam I have been ignoring all types of unsolicited calls and emails about Obamacare. I also try to obtain as much legitimate information about Obamacare as possible and for this I use the ‘Healthcare’ website of the U.S. government. All these steps has helped me to avoid any sort of confusion about Medicare and Obamacare and hence any unsolicited calls or any approach by a scammer is easily detected by me and I do not fall prey to their attractive yet fraud based schemes.
(ii): Discount card – It should be known that a medical discount card provides individuals discounted fee-for-service and is not insurance. To avoid being a victim of discount card scams I use more or less the same strategy as mentioned above. I try to glean as such information as possible with regards to discount cards from websites like website of ACS. This gives me a thorough understanding with regards to the working of discount cards and the different kinds and types of plans on offer. There are plans like dental care plan, vision care plan, prescription drugs plan etc. I also get to know the charges for each plan and armed with such information I am always able to turn down all types of unsolicited calls and emails that offer to sell false cards at lower and attractive rates.
