Answer #1

Given

Medication :Nebsin

Available:20mg/2ml

Weight:4 pounds (1.8kg=0.454×4)

As it is mentioned 4mg/kg

=then 1.8kg=??mg

Cross multiply and divide

=4×1.8÷1

=7.2mg/day

Dose:4mg

Route:IM

Frequency:Twice a day

As one dise=4 mg then two dose =8mg

The actual safe dose for the neonates is 7.2 mg/day as per the weight but the order of 4mg/dose can make 8mg/day .Which is more than the recommended dose. Hence not safe to be administered.

If this is the safe dose that is 4mg/dose then to calculate the amount

When 20mg=2ml

Then 4mg=??ml

Cross multiply and divide

=4×2÷20

=8÷20

=0.4ml
