Answer #1

Notice of Privacy practices concerns with the individual's privacy issues and right to protect their health information. It gives the explanation of health plans and health care providers rights and practices. The HIPPA privacy rules say that the individual has the right to protect the personal health information. HIPPA provides list of rules regarding the protection of patient health information. Among these, the rule of individual rights to obtain the copy of health information as covered by the covered entities based on the request is the most important. This helps the individuals to make their own decision regarding health care and treatment.

The HIPPA use the term Protected Health information (PHI) in the Notice of Privacy Practices. Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is similar to the PHI in which the patient information is identified through the data. Deidentified Health information (DII) is the identification of health information through the covered identities not from individual personal identity. These are used for different purposes based on the requirements and disclosure of information.
