Inferential Statistics Discussion:

Suppose a group of 30 students take a test. Their results are poor and they go through a tutoring session and they take the test again. To see if the tutoring had a positive effect on the scores, should we use an independent t-test or a dependent one? Justify the answer.

A dependent T Test will be used to judge the effects on the test score. The reason being here we want to know if tutoring improves scores from the previous scores without a tutoring session. A dependent T test is used when the result anticipated is linked or dependent on the previous sample pair. The set of assumptions required for the T test are :

(I) Random sampling from a population that is defined

(ii) Population difference scores having normal distribution

(iii) Interval measurement
