Which of the following is NOT true of lipid rafts? The are less fluid than the surrounding membrane The can serve to localize components of reactions and pathways They contain a higher concentration of cholesterol than the surrounding membrane They contain a higher concentration of glycolipids than the surrounding membrane
Lipid composition (i.e. the % of each type of lipid) of a membrane often differs (Select any/all that apply) OAt different locations in the cell (i.e. in different organelles) In different leaflets of the same location within the cell OAt different locations of the same membrane (i.e. different parts of the plasma membrane)

Answer #1

1) The answer is D as lipids rafts contain glycolipoprotein, cholesterol, glycosphingolipids but do not contain glycolipids. So the answer is D.

2) Lipid composition of a membrane often differs at different locations in the cell like it is different in different organelles like golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum and at different locations of the same membrane too. So the answer is 1 and3.

3). The backbone of phospholipid is made up of glycerol as phospholipid is made up of two fatty acids and a phosphate group attached to the glycerol backbone. So answer to this question is C.
