A lewis acid is considered as the one which accepts electron pair. Therefor the species having positive charge or electron deficiency will act as lewis acid. Lewis Acid = Mn+2, SiCl4, NO2
A lewis base is considered as the one which can donate electron pair. Therefore the species having negative charge or lone pair of electrons will act as lewis base.Lewis base= (CH3)3N, I-, H-, CH3OH.
However it is to be considerd that methanol act as a bronsted acid due to acidic character of alcohols but when there is the presence of a strong proton donor, methanol accepts a proton by donating its electron pair present on oxygen atom as in the case of dehydration of alcohols. thus acting as a lewis base.
