A moonshiner makes the error of filling a glass jar to the brim and capping it tightly. The moonshine expands more than the glass when it warms up, in such a way that the volume increases by 0.6% (that is,

?V/V0 = 6. A moonshiner makes the error of filling a glass ja 10-3) relative to the space available.

(a) Calculate the force exerted by the moonshine per square centimeter if the bulk modulus is

Answer #2

a) Force exerted by moonshine per square meter = Bulk modulus *?V/V0

=2.1 multiply.gif 109x 6.0 multiply.gif 10-3

= 12.6 x 10^6 N/m^2

Force exerted per square centimeter = 12.6 x 10^6 x 10^-4 = 1260 N/cm^2

b) 1 atm =1 x 10^5 N/m^2.

So, force exerted here = 126 atm.

Answer #3

a) B=-V*dp/dv

or 2.1*10^9=P/(6*10^-3)

or P=1.26*10^7 N/m^2

=1.26*10^3 N/cm^2

b)pressure=124.75 atms

A moonshiner makes the error of filling a glass jar to the brim and capping it tightly. The moonshine expands more than the glass when it warms up, in such a way that the volume increases by 0.6% (that is, ΔV/V0 = 6 ✕ 10-3) relative to the space available. Calculate the force exerted by the moonshine per square centimeter if the bulk modulus is 2.1 ✕ 109 N/m2, assuming the jar does not break. N/cm2

A moonshiner makes the error of filling a glass jar to the brim and capping it tightly. The moonshine expands more than the glass when it warms up, in such a way that the volume increases by 0.2% (that is, ΔV/V0 = 2 ✕ 10-3) relative to the space available. Calculate the force exerted by the moonshine per square centimeter if the bulk modulus is 1.5 ✕ 109 N/m2, assuming the jar does not break.

A 505-g squirrel with a surface area of 920 cm2 falls from a 4.4-m tree to the ground. Estimate its terminal velocity. (Use therag coefficient for a horizontal skydiver. Assume that the cross-sectional area of the squirrel can be approximated as a rectangle of width 11.5 cm and length 23 cm. Note, the squirrel may not reach terminal velocity by the time it hits the ground. Give the squirrel's terminal velocity, not it's velocity as it hits the ground.) ITn/s...
