Describe several of the technical solutions that power today’s “smart store.”
The technical solutions that power today’s smart store are solutions and technical capabilities like smart cards, smart carts and in some cases smart shelves as well.
Let me now explain these solutions. Smart cards are a physical electronic authorization device that is used to control access to a resource. It resembles like a plastic credit card but has an embedded integrated circuit and provides personal identification, data storage, authentication of transactions etc.
Smart carts are shopping trolleys that make use of RFID (radio frequency identification) technology to help and support shoppers in various different ways like providing the exact location of different items that are there in a pre-entered list.
Smart shelves are electronically connected shelves and they keep an automatic track of inventory in a smart store. This enables the store to ensure that there is never a situation of stock out and customers are not inconvenienced due to this.
