How would you describe the concept of OB in today’s workplace to your parents or grandparents? I want an answer differentiating Organizational Behaviour in the olden days as compared to the recent?
Answer 1) So explaining Organizational behavior to parents and grandparents will be like: Organizational behavior is said to be the study of behavior of people working in an organization. The way they behave while working, the kind of bond they create between each other, the kind of atmosphere prevails in the office, the interaction between employees and the organization. All these things largely are called as Organizational behavior. Organization behavior in other words is information on how employees work in organization and Organizational behavior helps in developing an understanding of how to motivate employees, enhance performance, and help organizations establishing a good bond between all employees. Giving example will become easy for parents and grandparents to understand that is:
Lets create scenario of how Organizational behavior works for employees, Mr. X joined the company last week only
1. He is given a orientation about company
2. His skills and areas or liking are asked
3. He is being introduced to other employees
4. Some welcome perks and benefits are given to him
5. Analysis of his work is done by monitoring him
6. He will be asked to fill a questionnaire about his nature and background
7. He will be given training to implement new skills
8. He will be given unity of command of complete right to work, say and speak whatever he feels like
All this is Organizational behavior.
Now talking about Organizational behavior in older days Vs new, earlier the employees were treated as slaves and no perks were given to the employees these employees were asked to work more than their potential and earlier employees had no right in taking any decision or giving any kind of input but now the trend is completely changed, earlier employees had no say in the organization. Organizational behavior earlier was very less because employees had no union body and only focus was to earn profit. Talking about new trends in Organizational behavior, employees are treated as assets of the company where employees work hard and they are paid for their hard work in terms of monetary and non monetary benefits. In today’s time employees are the real heroes for the companies, companies spend tons of money of recruitment, training and development plans for their employees, employees now have the right to take decision on their own. Employees now days have a great working atmosphere in the office where they work while enjoying earlier they used to work as slaves. The Organizational behavior structure has completely changed
