Answer #1

Given mean μ 200 and sigma =50

Let X1- 170 and X2 220

Xi-μ 170-200-30 50 0.6 50

Z_{2}=rac{X_{2}-mu }{sigma }=rac{220-200}{50}=rac{20}{50}=0.4

P(170<X< 220 )=P(-0.6< Z< 0.4)

  =P(-0.6< Z< 0)+P(0< Z< 0.4)

P(0 < Z < 0.6) P(0 < Z < 0.4) ( by the symmetry )

0.2258 0.1554

  =0.3812 (c)
