Two concave spherical mirrors, M1 and M2, face each other at a separation between their vertices of 2.000 m. The radius of curvature on M1 is 0.500 m and that of M2 is 2.000 m. A point source of light lies on the line connecting their centers of curvature of the two mirrors and at a distance (3/11) m from M1. Compute the positions of the images by rays that have undergone (a) one reflection at M1, (b) one reflection at M1 and one reflection at M2, and (c) one reflection at M1, one at M2, and a final reflection at M1.

    3. Consider an optical resonator made of two mirrors, one concave with radius of curvature R and a planar mirror. The separation d= R/2. Such a resonator is called hemispherical cavity. From the ray matrix formalism, calculate the condition for re-entrant rays, as we have done in class but for confocal cavity. - Points: 2
