In this project, you set up a shared folder in Windows Server 2003/Server 2003 R2 and Server 2008/Server 2008 R2.

To set up a shared folder:

1. In Windows Server 2003/Server 2003 R2, click Start and click My Computer. In Windows Server 2008/Server 2008 R2, click Start and click Computer.

2. Double-click Local Disk (C:) (or another disk appropriate to your computer’s setup).

3. Right-click the folder you created in Hands-On Project 10-5, such as JPUtilities and click Properties.

4. Click the Sharing tab.

5. In Windows Server 2003/Server 2003 R2, click the option button for Share this folder. In Windows Server 2008/Server 2008 R2, click the Advanced Sharing button in the Properties dialog box.

6. Click to check the option button (Server 2003/Server 2003 R2) or box (Server 2008/ Server 2008 R2) for Share this folder.

7. Click the Permissions button. What permissions can you configure?

8. With the Everyone group already selected, click the Allow box for Change (see Figure 10-23).

9. Click OK and click OK again. In Windows Server 2008/Server 2008 R2, click OK one more time to close the last dialog box.

10. Close any open windows.
