Devices connected to a computer, such as the keyboard, are linked into the operating system through device drivers. In this project, you view the keyboard device drivers installed in Windows XP/Vista/7, Server 2003/Server 2003 R2, or Server 2008/Server 2008 R2.

To view the keyboard device driver:

1. In Windows XP or Server 2003/Server 2003 R2, click Start, right-click My Computer, and click Manage. Or in Windows Vista, 7, or Server 2008/Server 2008 R2, click Start, right-click Computer, and click Manage.

2. Click Device Manager under the tree in the left pane.

3. Double-click Keyboards in the right pane.

4. Double-click the keyboard description under Keyboards.

5. Click the Driver tab.

6. Who is the provider of the keyboard device driver, and is the device driver digitally signed (for security)? Record your observations.

7. Click the Driver Details button (see Figure 1-20).

8. How many driver files are displayed and what are they?

9. Click OK.

10. Click Cancel.
