CONTROLLER SWITCHING-B

Determine if a control loop is in or out of control and explain why it is in or out of control when the following indicators arc observed:

• The control loop is in control if all elements of the loop arc yielding the desired process result (auto, closed loop).

• If the process result is off from what is desired, what indicator shows an out of control condition? Possible places in a loop where the malfunction could exist include: the primary element, transmitter, controller, and/or final control element.

• The process technician must troubleshoot the cause of the problem.

• Placing the problem element on manual control can help regain control of the process.
