Humane education and classroom pets. In grade school, did your teacher have a pet in the classroom? Many teachers do so in order to promote humane education. The Journal of Moral Education (Mar. 2010) published a study designed to examine elementary school teachers’ experiences with humane education and animals in the classroom. Based on a survey of 75 elementary school teachers, the following results were reported:
