When complex ecosystems having certain soil and climatic conditions along with certain dominating plants and animals are combined together, they form a biome. A particular type of biome may be different than other with respect to its elevation above sea level, and soil pattern.
Biomes are broadly classified into ten categories and they include:
• Tropical rain forest
• Tropical dry forest
• Tropical savanna
• Desert
• Temperate grassland
• Temperate woodland and shrub land
• Temperate forest
• Northwestern coniferous forest
• Boreal forest
• Tundra.
