At the four cell stage of the Caenorhabditis elegans embryo, the GLP-1 protein is expressed in two anterior cells but not in other cells. It is repressed in the two posterior cells. The repression of GLP-1 translation requires the 3'UTR (untranslated region) spatial control region. The deletion of spatial control region will allow glp-1 repression in both anterior and posterior cells.
In mutant heterozygotes the GLP-1 expression pattern in the four cell embryo would be expressed.
In mutant homozygotes, the GLP-1 expression pattern in the four cell embryo would be expressed.
