Graded potentials are generated with any change in the ion concentration within in the cell, they occur when the axon is stimulated to some extent. If the stimulus cause the membrane potential to move towards more negative, it is known as “hyperpolarization.”
If the membrane potential moves toward the positive side or less negative, it is known as “depolarization.”
