The shaft in Fig. 1 is simply supported at A and C, but is keyed against rotation. Draw and dimension the bending moment diagram, and find all reactions at the ends. Find the resultant stress from all causes for the elements on the top surface of the shaft at D and F. Do the same for the elements at E and G at the elevation of the center line. Draw sketches for the elements with arrows properly directed for the stress and show numerical values.
