In this project, you use an Internet resource to test the speed of your analog or digital modem (the test actually works for any Internet connection), if you have a connection you can test. You can use a Web browser in any of the operating systems discussed in this book, such as Internet Explorer for Windows, Mozilla for UNIX/Linux systems, or Safari for Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard. You need access to the Internet for this project. To test the speed of your modem or Internet connection:

1. Open your browser and point it to www.bandwidthplace.com.

2. Click the Start Test button and wait for the download and upload speed tests to complete.

3. What are the results for your test?

4. Close the Web browser.
