In this hands-on project, you create an SSH tunnel using X Windows.
1. Switch to the gdm by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 or Ctrl+Alt+F7 and log in to the GNOME Desktop Environment as sample user one with a password of secret.
2. Open a BASH terminal.
3. At the command prompt, type ssh –X root@localhost and press Enter. Supply the root user password of secret when prompted.
4. At the command prompt, type whoami and press Enter. Are you the root user on the remote computer?
5. At the command prompt, type xeyes and press Enter. Was the root user’s X Windows program redirected to user1’s X Windows program?
6. Close your terminal window and log out of the GNOME Desktop Environment.
