A container is at rest with respect to a desk. Inside the container a particle is moving horizontally at a speed v with respect to the desk. It collides with a vertical wall of the container elastically and rebounds. Qualitatively, determine the direction and the speed of the particle if the wall is (a) at rest with respect to the desk; (b) moving in the same direction as the particle at a speed smaller than the particle’s; and (c) moving in the direction opposite to the motion of the particle at a smaller speed.
