This chapter deals separately with metal–metal bonds and metallaboranes, but reaction of [Cp*MoCl₄] and LiBH₄, followed by thermolysis with tellurium powder in toluene affords a metallaborane with metal– metal bonds, is consistent with the presence of seven boron atoms; it featured three resonances with a 2:2:3 ratio. Sketch the abbreviated cubane structure provided in Chart 1 of this reference and label each boron atom with its chemical shift. The NMR data also indicates two Cp* environments. What differentiates the MoCp* fragments leading to this spectral feature?
