A car is waiting at an intersection. The traffic light turns green, and with some delay the driver steps on the accelerator pedal. The acceleration of the car as a function of time is shown in the figure.

Answer #1

It is to be observed from the graph that under the acceleration-time curve will give final velocity

v= integral of accelration * time

i,e area under the curve is

A = A1+ A2+ A3

A= (1/2) (4-1) (5.5-0) + (6-4)(5.5-0) + 1/2 (10-6) (5.5-0)

A= 5.5 (3/2+2+4/2)

A = 30.25 m/s
