The ear is a sensory organ that has two functions :

1. Hearing

2. Equilibrium

The ear is divided into three parts :

1. Outer ear

2. Middle ear

3. Inner ear

Outer ear is the most external part of ear and consists of pinna and ear canal. Outer ear connects to middle ear which consists of tympanic membrane, ear ossicles and the oval and round window. The middle ear connects to inner ear. Inner consists of saccule, utricle, semicircular canal and cochlea.

The above passage is related to the anatomy of middle ear.

Vibrations of the tympanic membrane are transmitted to the three auditory bones in the middle ear which are the malleus, incus and stapes. The stapes lead from the oval window to the cochlea.
