a. CO + Cl2-------------> COCl2

On reactants side = 1072 + 242 = 1314

On products side = 732 + (2*339) = 1410

enthalpy change = (1314-1410) = - 96 kJ/mol

b. H2 + I2 ----------------> 2 HI

On reactants side = 436 + 151 = 587

On products side = 2*299 = 598

enthalpy change = (587-598) = - 11 kJ/mol
