Answer #1

1)

use dilution formula

M1*V1 = M2*V2

1---> is for stock solution

2---> is for diluted solution

Given:

M1 = 1.55 M

M2 = 0.3 M

V2 = 100 mL

use:

M1*V1 = M2*V2

V1 = (M2 * V2) / M1

V1 = (0.3*100)/1.55

V1 = 19.4 mL

Answer: 19.4 mL

2)

use dilution formula

M1*V1 = M2*V2

1---> is for stock solution

2---> is for diluted solution

Given:

M1 = 1.55 M

M2 = 0.4 M

V2 = 500 mL

use:

M1*V1 = M2*V2

V1 = (M2 * V2) / M1

V1 = (0.4*500)/1.55

V1 = 129 mL

Answer: 129 mL

A standard solution was then prepared by transferring 2.00 mL of the stock solution to a second 25.00-mL volumetric flask and diluting to the mark. What is the concentration (in M) of Cu2+(aq)in the stock solution? What is the concentration (in M) of Cu2+(aq)in the standard solution?

    The recommended procedure for preparing a very dilute solution is not to weigh out a very small mass or measure a very small volume of stock solution. Instead, it is done by a series of dilutions. A sample of 0.8521 g of KMnO4 was dissolved in water and made up to the volume in a 500.0−mL volumetric flask. A 2.000−mL sample of this solution was transferred to a 1000−mL volumetric flask and diluted to the mark with water. Next, 10.00...
