Answer #1

a] Let tension in upper rope be T1 and that in lower rope be T2.

T1 cos 30 degree + T2 cos 30 degree = mv^2/r

[T1 + T2] cos 30 degree = 0.4*7.2^2/ cos 30 degree

T1 + T2 = 0.4*7.2^2*4/3 = 27.648 ........eq1

[T1 - T2 ] sin 30 degree = mg

T1-T2 = 0.4*9.8/0.5 = 7.84........eq2

From eq1 and eq2,

T1 = 17.744 N, T2 = 9.904 N

  Tension in upper rope = T1 = 17.744 N answer

b] Tension in lower rope = T2 = 9.904 N answer
