Socioeconomic status is social standing or class of an individual or group. It is measured as a combination of education, income and occupations. Socioeconomic status is an economic and sociological combined measure of a persons work experience and of an individual or family's economic and social position in relation to others . Socioeconomic status underlies three major determinants of health : health care, environmental exposure and health behavior. Socioeconomic status (SES) affects overall human functioning including our physical and mental health. Low SES affects our society and may also increase morbidity and mortality and disparities occur.

The most fundamental cause of health disparities are socioeconomic disparities. Each component of SES provide various health outcomes. Education is the key to health inequality, policies encouraging more years of schooling and supporting education may have health benefits. By giving proper education people will know the benefits and risk of better health care. Higher income can provide better health care, better nutrition, better housing and environment. Occupations also have impact on health. Employed have better health than unemployed durme to better capacity to have better health care .Threat if unemployment and job security can affect health as well. Lower status jobs also expose workers to physical and psychological risks, occupational injury, and exposure to toxic environment.

Socioeconomic status underlies three determinants, which together affect health. But also there are other factors like behavior, lifestyle ,environment which affect health

Racial and ethnic disparities in health is the difference in which disadvantaged social groups such as poor, racial / ethnic minorities who have persistently experienced social disadvantage or discrimination experience worse health risk than more advantaged social group. Racial / ethnic minority groups have increased presence of certain diseases, poorer health outcomes and greater difficulty in obtaining healthcare services. The health disparities occur in the form if insurance also.Minor group are not provided with all the benefits of health insurance and thus they cannot meet with increased health costs and get better treatment. The sources of health care disparities include differences in geography, lack of access to adequate health coverage , communication difficulties between patient and provider, cultural barriers, provider stereotyping, lack of access to providers.Also minorities have less access to health care, lack prenatal care, avoid doctors visit due to cost.

So to prevent it all legal residents should be provided equally with healthcare and insurance.
