What are OSHA and NIOSHA and what do they do?
OSHA, The Occupational Safety and Health Administration holds the authority of providing security at work and a healthy habitat to work. OSHA is a US government firm covered by the Department of Labor. NIOSH, The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is a federal authority of the United States. OSHA and NIOSH were endorsed on December 29,1970, by President Richard M. Nixon.
OSHA works under the Department of Labor while NIOSH is controlled by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. These are two separate government organisations. OSHA aims to persuade a secure and healthy working environment by implementing standards and provides particulars, coaching, and assistance to laborers. NIOSH is accountable for organizing research and guiding for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. OSHA design and impose law and NIOSH focuses on research and education. But these agencies work together in times of need as seen in the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster of 2010.
Considering the services provided, OSHA is for private-sector workers, State, and local government workers, federal government workers which are provided by federal OSHA or by state programs.
