ETHICAL DILEMMAS OF A EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN VERSUS OTHER HEALTH CARE PROVIDER :

Health care ethics are those which are simple in nature, with morals and values that helps in choices of medical care.

Ethics are very important in health care department where patient life depends on the decision of a physician or health care provider. Following the health care many times medical and non medical professionals will face a lot of problems about what to do and what not to do. A lot of problems arise while performing health care activities to patient where the nature of physician should depend on his ethics. A small wrong decision of the doctor may ruin the entire life of a patient. At the time of operations or any important decision making where the doctor and other health care providers involve should be very careful and aware of their current situation to avoid damage to life of patients.

ETHICAL DILEMMAS OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN :

Emergency medicine physician is the one who always be present in emergency areas of the hospital, especially in casualty, operation theater, Intensive care units, critical care units, emergency wards, etc. The role of a emergency physician is to perform his/ her roles in a dynamic way without any other thinking, that may came from family, society, friends, children or any other group of community.

The common dilemmas that a emergency medicine physician may have are as follows :

* Dilemmas on patient care

* Administration of emergency medications

* In accurate decision making

* Fear of failure during life and death cases

* Unavailability of medical resources and so on

Dilemmas may be present in many ways. But the issue is that how the physician will overcome from that problem. Most of the cases dilemmas are going to present on in appropriate decision making process and poor judgement on patient present situation. Dilemmas are nothing but a state of confusion which becomes worse when it is not pushed on a right track, if it is taken on a correct path a lot problems can be solved and life of the patient is in safer hands. In emergency cases physicians should be very alert regarding patient medicines, their adverse reactions, sudden change in health behavior, surgical sites, administering of emergency medicines, during blood administration, etc the emergency medical physician should be very alert.

FOR EXAMPLE: At the time of major accident it will become difficult for a emergency medical physical to concentrate on which factor of the body to reduce further complications. The person came to emergency ward with having major motor vehicle accident, involving head trauma, complete crushing of leg bone, heavy bleeding from nose and ear. The dilemma for the emergency physician is to stop bleeding from which area of body. If he tries to stop bleeding from head injury, then the leg fracture starts showing its effects on total leg which will lead to complete loose of leg that is permanent disability may occur. If a wrong decision if the physician made at that time it will cause death of a person.

ETHICAL DILEMMAS OF OTHER HEALTH HEALTH CARE PROVIDER (NURSE) :

Nurses play an important role in provision of qualitative care in health care department. 24 hourly nurses struggle for patient care and well being. Not only for the patient care but also they put efforts in decision making process of patient well being. But nurses also face dilemmas during their professional stages which they try to avoid in making wrong decisions.

FOR EXAMPLE : When a nurse family member admits in the hospital for any illness, she will be in a state of confusion whether she has to attend them or not. Treating patients in the hospital is different as for treating persons in the family. The thinking , decision making level alters in attending their family members and seeing them in a state of suffering.

Hence, both emergency medical physician and other health care providers face dilemmas at the time of treatment for patient well being. But the fact is even physician, nurses, and all other health care providers have to follow their ethical values to save the life of patients and to provide quality of care to patients.
